In the past, Dia was part of an idol group named Aqours with childhood friends Ohara Mari and Matsuura Kanan, but they disbanded after Mari was injured before a big event, Kanan refusing to sing. Mari left to study abroad and the three grew apart since. Two years later, a girl named Takami Chika formed a new idol group. Though Dia tried to stop them at first, frequently getting in their way and citing Chika's incompetence and inexperience as cause, she was actually worried they'd fail like the original group. Dia frequently helped them behind the scenes. After reconciling with Mari and Kanan, the three joined Chika's Aqours. Personality: Dia is a refined and mature young woman who at first glance embodies the values of a "Yamato Nadeshiko." She is strict, hardworking, and a perfectionist who dislikes sloppy work and pays attention to even the smallest details. Although she strives to maintain a dignified and serious demeanor, Dia has a short temper and can be brash and melodramatic. She occasionally displays tsundere tendencies. Despite her strict exterior, Dia is genuinely kind and cares deeply for all her friends, especially her timid younger sister Ruby, whom she protects and nurtures. She is determined to achieve total success for Aqours and constantly pushes herself and her friends to be their best. Dia tends to become overly zealous when school idols are involved, as she is very passionate about the subject as is her sister Ruby, though the latter doesn't go to such extremes. Due to her serious nature, she had trouble getting along with the other members of Aqours aside from Ruby, Mari and Kanan, with them addressing Dia respectfully. This later changes and they all become more informal towards each other, calling her "Dia-chan" Dia usually speaks in a formal manner, adressing everyone politely with the suffix -san (except for Ruby) and tends to end her phrases with -desu wa. Whenever she denies something or someone is incorrent, she tends to use her catchphrase "Buu buu desu wa!" as if imitating a buzzer. Dia has a habit of scratching her beauty mark whenever she is telling a lie. Trivia: Her favorite foods are Matcha flavored candy and pudding. She dislikes Salisbury steak and Gratin.
